What is Fiat On-ramp?

The crypto market moves fast, meaning as a trader, you need to move even quicker. This is where fiat on-ramps are crucial.

Fiat on-ramp is a service that converts fiat currencies (e.g., USD, EUR, JPY) for cryptocurrencies (e.g., BTC, ETH). Given fiat (or government-issued currencies) are the most widely adopted form of currencies worldwide, exchanging fiat is the most common way to access cryptocurrencies. On-ramps act as the bridge between the traditional finance (TradFi) space and digital asset marketplace.

With the integration of Mercuryo on BitMEX, users can instantly buy crypto with credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay to fund their derivatives trading. 

How to Buy Crypto on BitMEX with Mercuryo

Below is a step-by-step guide on how to buy Bitcoin, buy USDT, buy Solana, and many other coins directly on BitMEX. 

Step 1: Sign up for a BitMEX account

Register for a BitMEX account if you haven’t already done so. Make sure to verify your account; you will need a valid ID and may be asked for proof of address, so be sure to have those ready. KYC completion can vary depending on your jurisdiction.

Step 2: Get started with Buy Crypto

On your navigation bar, head to the ‘Buy Crypto’ drop down > ‘One-Click Buy’. Alternatively, head to your ‘Funds’ drop down > ‘Buy Crypto’. 

Step 3: Select the fiat currency to pay with

Choose the fiat currency you would like to buy crypto with. BitMEX and Mercuryo support more than 35 fiat currencies (e.g., USD, EUR).

Step 4: Select the cryptocurrency to buy

Choose the cryptocurrency you would like to buy. For example, if you wish to buy USDT with your USD, select USDT. You can purchase more than 25 cryptocurrencies via Mercuryo. 

Step 5: Specify your fiat currency amount

Fill in the amount of fiat currency you would like to purchase cryptocurrency with under ‘Pay’. The value of your fiat currency will automatically convert into your chosen cryptocurrency under ‘You Get’. 

Step 6: Select your preferred method of payment

You can buy crypto with credit card, Apple Pay, or Google pay. After choosing your method, enter your payment details. 

P.S. If you choose to buy crypto with credit card, you can select Set recurring purchase, which automatically purchases crypto on a weekly or monthly basis on a day of your choice. 

Step 7: Confirm your purchase

When buying Bitcoin 

If you choose to buy Bitcoin, you will first be asked to choose your Transaction speed; Standard or Fast. We recommend choosing the Fast option to get your crypto quicker. 

When buying Ethereum, USDT, USDC, and more

For certain tokens, you will be asked to choose the network for your transaction. For example, if you wish to buy USDT, you will have the option to place your transaction on the SOL, TRON, BSC, or ETH network.

Once you’ve checked the details of your purchase, click Pay. You will receive a confirmation email from BitMEX shortly after initiating the purchase. After the on-chain transaction is processed, you will receive another email from Mercuryo confirming the transaction*.

*The receiving time of this email will depend on the Transaction speed you choose on purchase.
