こんにちは (“Konnichiwa”) Tokyo, Slán Dublin: Trading Engine Migration to AWS Tokyo

After months of dedicated preparation, the BitMEX trading engine infrastructure was migrated from AWS Dublin to AWS Tokyo on 23 August. The migration was completed in just five minutes, with the exchange being brought back online within an hour.

The goal of the migration is to significantly reduce inter-venue latency which will increase the number of market making participants, eventually leading to enhanced liquidity. While it will take time to gauge the exact impact, the team is already seeing benefits and several institutions getting ready to deploy their trading enhancements.

The team will continue fine-tuning all internal processes over the next month and will be delivering more positive and detailed updates in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

Liquidity Improvements: >300% Increase for BTC, ETH, SOL, and More

You ask, we listen. Improving liquidity for our derivatives contracts has been paramount for the company this year, and we’re excited to share the latest updates.

Our focus has been to improve our available notional at 5bps from the top of the orderbook, which has been achieved on several contracts. Our Bitcoin perpetual swap, XBTUSDT, saw a 319% jump from January to August 2025, breaking through $2m per side in July 2025. The same trend followed for our ETH perpetual swap ETHUSDT, which saw a 541% increase for the same period.

Major altcoin contracts like SOLUSDT and XRPUSDT also saw benefits, with the two contracts bursting through $500k in August 2025. We are now seeing improvements across additional contracts for DOGE, PEPE, SUI, and BCH, with more updates to follow in the coming weeks.

If there are any contracts you would like us to focus on next, our ears are open. Let us know via Telegram.

Other Noteworthy Updates: PnL Dashboard Launch and User Interface Enhancements

With user experience in mind, other noteworthy developments include the delivery of our new PnL Dashboard and Assets dropdown menu.

PnL Dashboard: Get a Comprehensive View of Trading Performance

The best traders continuously analyse historical trading data to sharpen their performance. Which is why we launched the PnL Dashboard, a one-stop tool for users to analyse their portfolio’s true profitability.

Alongside total PnL, users can view the fees spent, funding paid/received, and margin balance. Leaving no details behind.

Head over to Assets > Wallets > Trading Performance on your trading interface navigation bar to access yours. More details can be found here

Assets Dropdown: Wallet-Related Features at Your Fingertips

We’ve upgraded the user interface to give users easier access to wallet-related commands like Deposit, Withdraw, Transfer, and more.

Click on Assets to get to your Wallet, or access transaction commands like Deposit, Withdraw, Transfer, Buy Crypto, and Convert. You can also check your Margin Usage and Trade History

Our mission is simple: build a derivatives exchange that caters to real traders. We’re always open to user feedback, and our recent platform improvements are a testament to that.

Stay tuned for further updates.
